Common Symptom for Rheumatoid Arthritis
|
Rheumatoid arthritis - Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, inflammatory autoimmune disorder that causes the immune system to attack the joints. It is a disabling and painful inflammatory condition, which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction.
Joint injection - In medicine, a joint injection is a procedure used in the treatment of inflammatory joint conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, tendonitis, bursitis and occasionally osteoarthritis. A hypodermic needle is injected into the affected joint where it delivers a dose of any one of many anti-inflammatory agents, the most common of which are corticosteroids.
Juvenile arthritis - Juvenile arthritis is a type of arthritis typically affects children before the age of sixteen. Most children with juvenile arthritis have a form of rheumatoid arthritis, the symptoms of which are identical to the adult kind.
Rheumatoid factor - Rheumatoid factor (RF) is a blood test performed in patients with suspected rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It is an antibody against IgG, which is itself an antibody; RF and IgG form immune complexes, which are part of the disease process of various rheumatological diseases.

Arthritis and soft-tissue swelling of >3 of 14 joints/joint groups Arthritis of hand joints Symmetric arthritis Subcutaneous nodules in specific places Rheumatoid factor at a level above the 95th percentile Radiological changes suggestive of joint erosion Four criteria have to be met, although many patients are treated despite not meeting the criteria. Features The American College of Rheumatology has defined (1987) the following criteria for Rheumatoid Arthritis [1]: Morning stiffness of all joints in the morning that lasts over 1 hour. If the arthritis has been longstanding, the inflammatory activity has led to erosion and destruction of the joint surface, which impairs their range of movement and leads to deformity. Arthritis and soft-tissue swelling of many joints at the same time (polyarthritis). The pain generally improves with use of the joint surface, which impairs their range of movement and leads to deformity.
